Process for Requesting an Extension

To request a deadline extension for an assignment, students must follow these steps:

  1. Submit a request in writing to the Dean of Graduate Programs, explaining the extenuating circumstances and their impact on academic progress.
  2. Include appropriate evidence to support the request. Where it is not possible or feasible to provide supporting evidence, the requests will be considered if an adequate explanation is provided.
  3. Submit the request ahead of the assessment deadline whenever feasible to ensure fairness in the assessment process and avoid creating an unfair advantage. If not feasible, students should submit the request and supporting evidence as soon as is reasonably practicable.

All extension requests will be reviewed by the Dean of Graduate Programs, who will confer with the Program Director and course instructor as necessary to review the request and reach a fair and objective decision.
